Samsung Galaxy S III explodes, injures 18 year old girl.

An exploding cellphone is no joke. A Samsung Galaxy S III exploded in the pants of 18 year-old Fanny Schlatter, and as you can see, it did plenty of damage to her thigh not to mention the handset. Now, we've seen people claim that their phone exploded out of nowhere only to find out later that the device was put in the microwave to cover up the fact that it had been dropped in the toilet first. Looking at this situation, one can see that this is not the case here.

There isn't much information on what caused the explosion, but the victim's paints had to be cut to prevent her from sustaining further damage.

The explosion took place at the girl's place of employment and Samsung Switzerland said that it is investigating and will probably send the phone back to Korea for a an examination.

A youth, convicted for raping a minor girl with whom he had eloped and later married, has been spared of the jail term by a Delhi court which said he has "realised his mistake" and sentencing him would "disrupt" his married life."The convict is sentenced to the period of imprisonment already gone," additional sessions judge Virender Bhat said, while observing that the youth himself had come forward to plead guilty so he should be handed a lesser sentence instead of a minimum of seven years for the offence of rape."The convict has himself come forward to admit his guilt which implies that his conscience has pricked him and he has realised his mistake.""In my opinion, the conduct of the prosecutrix herself in the whole affair, coupled with the accused himself coming forward to plead guilty, thus showing utmost sense of remorse and respect for the law, constitute special reasons for awarding lesser sentence upon the convict than the prescribed minimum period of seven years for the offence under section 376 (rape) of the IPC," the judge said.The youth was named in a charge sheet under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act after he was arrested by the police in June 2012 on the allegation that he kidnapped a 16-year-old girl, one of his relatives, and had raped her.However, after charges were framed against the youth, the girl had told the court that the accused is her husband and she had willingly eloped with him to marry and now they were living together as husband and wife."The convict is a young boy just 22 years of age. It has also come on record that the couple has been blessed with a girl child. Therefore, in my opinion, if the convict is sent to jail for some more period at this time, it will create hardship and mental agony to the prosecutrix herself who shall be left with no source of income and would not be able to maintain the infant child," the court said."The happy family of the prosecutrix and the convict would be disrupted and thrown into disarray," it said.

Back to 1755, a person named Henry Hall, aged 94 years, who was the oldest-known member of the Hall Family of Lighthouse Keepers that kept lights around the English and Welsh coasts, lost his life due to ingestion of a melted lead. It all started when a spark in the lamp had set the roof alight and eventually the whole of Rudyard’s Tower was engulfed in flames. He tried putting the fire out but eventually was forced to retreat down the tower. Not knowing what was lying in his destiny he looked up at the lighthouse when a molten led directly fell into his throat that later caused his death. That piece of lead is now retained in the collections of the National Museums of Scotland.

A person who hoped to get his own death by a bolt of lightning.

The American revolutionary – James Otis Jr. hoped his death to come by a bolt of lightning and often told his friends and relatives about it. On May 23, 1783 suddenly his wish was fulfilled when the lightning struck the chimney of a friend’s house in whose doorway he was standing and he is reported to have told his sister "My dear sister, I hope, when God Almighty in his righteous providence shall take me out of time into eternity that it will be by a flash of lightning". He died at an age of 58.

A Man was shot with a bullet in his forehead and die after 67 days.

During the year 1877, an incident took place at Deadwood, South Dakota on 14th January 1877 where a person named David Lunt was shot in the saloon fight. A person named Tom Smith suddenly entered the saloon with a handgun and affirmed that if anybody moved he would shoot them. Con Stapleton (group member with David Lunt) grabbed Tom Smith and tried to disarm him. During the course of action the bullet was shot from the handgun and it hit David Lunt and struck his forehead. David survived the incident. Thereafter, he started doing his every day routine chores when all of a sudden after a period of 67 days he felt a terrible headache and died on 22nd march 1877. As per the autopsy report, David died due to the bullet shot but nobody could determine the reason as to how he survived for such a long period after the incident.

A person who died because of gulping down a toothpick.

Well during the year 1941 an American novelist and short story writer – Sherwood Anderson died because of swallowing a toothpick during a party. The incident took place on the cruise which was going towards South America. Anderson and his wife were on the cruise liner Santa Lucia when Anderson experienced abdominal pain and was taken to a hospital in Colón, Panama where he died on 8th march 1941. His autopsy report showed that he had unintentionally gulped down a toothpick while eating hors d'oeuvres or either from martini olive.

A person who died because a bird came and hit the driver on his face which resulted in his losing the control.

The Formula One race driver, Alan Stacey was killed during the Belgian Grand Prix race in the year 1960. He was driving Lotus 18-Climax and his car crashed at a speed of 190 km/h (120 mph) because of a bird which flew down and hit his face. Alan had an artificial leg and he conspired with his team mates to fool medical examination. Alan died within a few minutes after the car crash. The Lotus is still in the hands of the Stacey Family and it makes occasional appearances on the track.

 An old public prosecutor named Garry Hoy died in order to prove his that his glass was “indestructible”. The unpleasant incident took place in the year 1993 when Garry threw himself against the window of a small meeting room which was located on the 24th floor of Toronto – Dominion Centre just to prove a group of visitors about his window glass being “indestructible”. The tragedy took place when the glass did not break but the glass popped out of the window frame. He is known for his situation of death.

The incident took place on 14th October 1862 when Jim was playing a match against the Union of Morrisania. He died after 4 days of injury in his home on 18th October 1862.

The Austrian/American logician and mathematician Kurt Gödel died due to hunger when his wife was hospitalized for six months in the year 1978. He had a compulsive fear of being poisoned and would only eat the food prepared by his wife Adele. Adele was hospitalized for six months and could no longer prepare food for Gödel. Due to the fear of being poisoned he refused to eat food and died due to hunger. He weighed 29.48 kg (65 pounds) when he died on 14th January 1978. Malnutrition and inanition caused by personality disorder was reported in his death certificate.

His name is Xiao Zheng and he is a student in Anhui Province,China. He sold his Kidney for around $3400 to an unknown man to buy iPhone and iPad.The hospital where the operation apparently took place claims to know nothing of the operation and a man to whom the kidney was sold vanished without a trace. But this dude's now got a new iPhone 4 and iPad 2 to play with, so good luck to him .

Charge Your Phone With Urine? Scientists Say It's Possible Using Microbial Fuel Cells

Often forget your phone charger? Well, scientists in the United Kingdom have devised a way to conceivably charge a mobile phone with something for users on the go - or, more aptly, for users who have to go.

Researchers at the University of the West of England say it's possible to charge a phone with urine by using microbial fuel cells (MFCs), which convert waste into electricity.

The team tested the potential of urine power to energize a Samsung mobile device, effectively using the mechanism to make a phone call, send texts and browse the Internet, according to the Press Association. So far tests have been successful, but the team still needs to perfect the method so that MFCs can provide a full battery charge.

Ioannis Ieropoulos, Ph.D., a senior research fellow at the university, compared the unusual design to other alternative forms of charging, such as solar power.

"The beauty of this fuel source is that we are not relying on the erratic nature of the wind or the sun, we are actually re-using waste to create energy," he said, according to the Telegraph.

The research is part of an ongoing project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and U.K. Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

Though Ieropoulos has labeled the urine-powered charger a "world first," the concept of turning human excrement into battery power has been introduced in the past.

In 2005, scientists in Singapore unveiled a battery that could be activated by biological fluids. Yet, unlike the U.K. team's tech, the Singapore team designed the urine-powered battery with the intention of designing a disposable power source for medical kits, National Geographic reports.

However, it seems, scientists have struggled to apply such urine power practically. As one chemical engineer pointed out in November, after three teenage girls unveiled a urine-powered generator, such mechanisms fail to provide enough energy output to match the input.

So while a urine-powered phone charger sounds like a resourceful -- albeit gross - renewable energy source, it may not be feasible for the typical mobile user.

Scientists have developed a way of charging mobile phones using urine.

Dr Ioannis Ieropoulos, from the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, claimed harnessing power from "the ultimate waste product" was "a world first".

"One product that we can be sure of an unending supply is our own urine," he said.

"By harnessing this power as urine passes through a cascade of microbial fuel cells (MFCs), we have managed to charge a Samsung mobile phone."

The scientists believe the technology has the future potential to be installed in bathrooms to harness the urine and produce sufficient electricity to power showers, lighting or razors as well as mobile phones. 'Smart toilet'

Dr Leropoulos said: "The beauty of this fuel source is that we are not relying on the erratic nature of the wind or the sun, we are actually re-using waste to create energy.

"So far the microbial fuel power stack that we have developed generates enough power to enable SMS messaging, web browsing and to make a brief phone call.

"Making a call on a mobile phone takes up the most energy, but we will get to the place where we can charge a battery for longer periods.

"The concept has been tested and it works - it's now for us to develop and refine the process so that we can develop MFCs to fully charge a battery."

The MFC is an energy converter which turns organic matter directly into electricity via the metabolism of live micro-organisms.

The electricity is a by-product of the microbes' natural life cycle, so the more they eat things like urine the more energy they generate and for longer periods of time.

Dr Ieropoulos said: "We are currently bidding for funding to work alongside partners in the US and South Africa to develop a smart toilet. Watch this space."

The robotics laboratory is a collaboration between the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol.
